HistoryTom Buidhe Fold
The Tom Buidhe Fold of pedigree Highland Cattle was started with the private purchase of two 3-year old, in-calf heifers, from Donald MacGillivray’s Pennygown Fold on Mull in October 2003.
These two pedigree heifers: Màiri Bhuidhe 5th of Pennygown and Caileag Bheag 22nd of Pennygown are the fold’s foundation stock and have been run with the neighbouring Brue Fold cows and bull in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. In 2007 the Brue Fold’s younger stock bull, 2 year old Calum Ruadh of Brue, was used for the 3 year old heifer.
The fold’s first sale was Uilleam Òg of Tom Buidhe, a March 2004 calf, sold as a 14-month old bull to the Claggersnich Fold, Cromdale, near Grantown-on-Spey, at the Highland Cattle Society’s Perth sale in May 2005.
